Simple home treatments soothing skin rash & irritation
YOGURT MASKS
Yogurt isn’t cut out only for supporting the digestive system and making bones stronger. Its components turn out to have amazing skin benefits. First of all, they slightly acidify it and balance the pH. Second of all, yogurt contains group B vitamins which effectively regenerate skin. Thirdly, lactic acid locks water in epidermis and doesn’t let skin get dry. Fourthly, yogurt is a rich source of zinc which is second to none when it comes to soothing all irritations. To slightly intensify its action, mix it with:
- banana: mix yogurt with 2 smashed bananas to get a thick pulp which doesn’t drip off face. Enrich it with a teaspoon of cocoa (polyphenols! <3);
- rolled oats: blend 1 tablespoon of oats, pour them with hot water (3 teaspoons), mix, let the pulp cool down, add 2 tablespoons of organic yogurt, apply to face skin, rinse out after 10 minutes;
- olive and avocado: mix 2 tablespoons of yogurt with a teaspoon of olive oil and a half of peeled and smashed avocado. Let the pulp sit on skin for around 10 minutes and rinse it out.
NATURAL COMPRESSES
- Aloe flesh is a magic mixture you can use for various DIY recipes. Of course, it’s ideal if you grow Aloe at home; if you don’t have it, get a natural Aloe juice and soak a cotton cloth (or muslin squares)in. There are also cotton sheets for DIY sheet masks available. Whatever you pick, the effect will be the same.
Put Aloe juice-soaked sheet/cloth/whatever on your face and let such a compress sit for around 5 minutes (it is perfectly enough because Aloe juice is likely to dry out in the material and no longer work after that time). - Aloe gel works equally good (available at drugstores or organic products stores). Apply a thick layer to skin and rinse it out using a cotton pad soaked in camomile infusion. Generally, camomile works as a brilliant compress itself, alleviating red, irritated skin.
- Fennel compress is made in a similar way. Soak a towel in fennel infusion and press it to skin for around 10 minutes. The infusion should be cool because heat may additionally widen blood vessels and cause extra redness. Feel free to mix fennel and camomile infusions: both herbs complement each others’ soothing and relieving properties.
