Lash Lift at Home? I’m Testing DIY Lash Lift and Lamination Kits

Lash lift and lamination have recently gained massive popularity because they allow you to enjoy beautifully curled lashes without the need to reach for mascara every day. What’s more, you can perform them yourself at home, as long as you have the right kit. There are plenty of options available on the market, so I decided to test a few and share my impressions. Out of all the ones I tried, a few are worth special attention. Let’s see what they have to offer!

The difference between lash lamination and lash lift

Both the lamination and lash lift aim to enhance the natural beauty of your lashes without lash extensions, curlers, or mascara. A lash lift involves curling and lifting the lashes at the roots, making them appear longer and fuller. The lamination, on the other hand, is a process where the lashes are coated with a special product that strengthens, adds shine, and locks in the curl. As a result, your lashes become more defined, expressive, and maintain their beautiful look for longer, allowing you to skip daily mascara application.

With this in mind, I decided to test some lash lift and lamination kits. Each one has its pros and cons, which are worth knowing to choose the ideal one for yourself.

Testing DIY lash lift and lamination kits for home use

1. Nanolash Lash Lift Kit – my definite favorite among lash lift and lamination kits

The Nanolash kit is a real gem among DIY lash lamination kits. First of all, the effect lasts for a long time – in my case, it lasted for nearly two months. The lashes are beautifully curled, while still looking very natural. There’s no sign of stiff, false-looking lashes that lose their shape after a few days.

What’s important is that Nanolash is extremely easy to use. Even if you’re a complete beginner, you’ll handle it just fine. The instructions are clear, and the products are gentle on the lashes, which is especially important if you have sensitive eyes. The Nanolash kit includes an activator, neutralizer, conditioner, glue, rods, and lash combs – everything you need for at-home lash care.

The only thing to be cautious of is the precision during the application – the products are quite concentrated, so it’s best not to overdo it. The price is reasonable compared to similar products, and considering the durability and effect, it’s a really good investment.

2. Thuya Lash Lift Kit – a good choice for beginners

If you’re looking for something affordable or just want to try the lash lift and lamination for the first time, the Thuya lash lift kit is a good choice. It surprises with its easy application, and the results are satisfying. It’s one of the cheaper kits on the market, so it’s sufficient for beginners.

The lashes are visibly curled and look very nice, although I must admit the durability could be better. After about four weeks, the effect started to fade.

The kit contains glue, gel, activator, and neutralizer, as well as silicone rods and under-eye pads. I do miss a good lash conditioner in the kit. Although it’s available separately, it would be nice if it were included.

That said, for the price, the Thuya kit works quite well, especially if you’re just starting your lash-lift journey. However, be aware that the products may slightly dry out your lashes, so it’s worth having a reliable conditioner on hand.

3. Protein Reconstruction System Zola – comprehensive care for lashes and brows

Zola is a kit that surprised me with its versatility. You can use it for both lashes and brows, which is convenient. After using the Zola products, the lashes are curled, and the brows are nicely shaped. Moreover, the products contain proteins that strengthen the hair, which is a big plus. The Zola kit includes only three products, which are enough for a full at-home lamination: an emulsion, neutralizer, and conditioner. Zola believes you don’t always need a lot of gadgets to achieve the desired effect.

The result lasts quite long, about six weeks. However, Zola requires a bit more skill and patience during the application. You need to be careful not to overdry the lashes, which can happen if you’re not cautious. Additionally, the kit isn’t easily available in physical stores, so it’s more convenient to order it online.

4. Elleebana Lash Lift – for those expecting professional results

I debated whether to include this kit because it’s expensive and not for every budget. However, Elleebana is a kit often recommended by beauticians, and for a good reason. It’s a product for professionals, providing long-lasting results – the lashes look great for up to two months. The products are gentle on the lashes, but the application requires precision and needs to be used in one go, so it’s not suitable for beginners in lash lift and lamination.

The kit includes many products that simplify the lash lamination and lift process, including sachets of activator and neutralizer, glue, silicone rods, applicator, brush, and foam remover.

In this case, quality comes with a high price. For someone who plans to use the kit regularly at home, it could be a significant investment.

5. RefectoCil Eyelash Lift – a good everyday choice

RefectoCil does what it’s supposed to, though without much excitement. The lash lift effect lasts for about six weeks, which is a decent result. The lashes are nicely curled, and the application is simple and quick. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it doesn’t nourish the lashes well – quite the opposite! Some people may notice slight dryness of the lashes after using these products, so it’s important to take proper care of them.

Although the kit contains all the essential products, they aren’t of the highest quality. The kit includes lifting tubes, lash perm tubes, neutralizer, glue, picks, bowls, and brushes. These tools are supposed to ease the application, but you first need to figure out what each is for. After that, it’s quick and pleasant!

The advantage of RefectoCil is definitely its availability – it can be found in many stores, both physical and online.

Ranking of lash lift and lamination kits – summary

If you want a long-lasting effect and ease of use, the Nanolash Lash Lift Kit will be the best choice. It’s a kit that won’t disappoint, even if you’re new to the world of lash lift and lamination. If you’re looking for something cheaper but still reliable, the Thuya kit is a good option, though you’ll have to accept a shorter-lasting effect.

Zola provides something more than just a lash lift, enabling brow lamination as well, which may be attractive if you want to care for the entire eye area. Elleebana, on the other hand, is a kit for those who expect professional results and aren’t afraid to spend more. RefectoCil is a solid everyday choice that will work well for basic lash care.

Each of these kits has its strengths and weaknesses, so the choice depends on your needs and expectations. No matter which one you choose, remember to regularly care for your lashes to enjoy the beautiful effect for as long as possible.
